The U.S. President Barack Obama congratulated Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev on Gurban Bayram (Festival of Sacrifice), AzerTAj state news agency reported.
"On behalf of the American people, I extend my best wishes as You and your people celebrate the reverent and joyous occasion of Eid Al-Adha," the congratulation message says.
"I wish you and Azeri people happiness and welfare," the letter says.
"My hope is that in the spirit of this blessed celebration we can work together to achieve freedom and peace throughout the world. May you and the people of Azerbaijan enjoy happiness and peace in the years ahead," the President said.
